Affordable Housing Initiative:
The congregation has financially supported the non profit Affordable Home Foundation started by one of the members of the congregation to build affordable homes for low income families. Another member of the congregation developed the construction design to a build house using foam panels. This reduces the cost of the house and makes the house eco-friendly with less than 5% of wood used in the construction compared with typical construction. The house will use less electricity to heat and cool because the insulation rating is 26% higher than building codes require. The purpose of Foundation is help low income families become home owners by selling a house at less than two thirds of the appraised value.
